An antique finely carved statue from southern India with a polychrome painted finish that was originally part of an exterior wall of a temple. This antique statue is hand-carved out of stone, which is a common material used in Indian temple art due to its durability and ability to be intricately carved. This antique Indian figure depicts a celestial dancer performing in honor of the gods. This Hindu statue of a Devata, a celestial dancer is shown in a standing position cross legged with contorting body which reflects a dance position. This stone Indian statue is shown wearing a traditional Saree in green & yellow colors with elaborate jewelry. This temple figure statue shows signs of wear and damage to one of the leg and is mounted on a metal stand.
